Derek is a second-generation Florida Contractor who began working in the construction industry right out of high school at the age of 18 years old. Derek quickly rose to Construction Supervisor in 2 years and ran several crews during the damage of Hurricane Jeane and Hurricane Ivan on Brevard’s Coast. Derek soon after served as a Police Officer in Florida for 5 years to help protect and serve his community. He soon realized he missed working with his hands in the construction industry and registered for the Construction Engineering Bachelor’s Program at the University of Central Florida after attaining his Associate’s Degree at Eastern Florida State College. During college, Derek worked in the HVAC field as a helper, Installer, Technician, Comfort Advisor, and Supervisor. After years of working for several local HVAC companies, he came to the realization that customer service and quality of work were lacking in the industry. He decided to take the Florida State HVAC Contractors Exam and passed it the first time. He founded Climate Experts Air, Plumbing & Electric with the determination to change the industry for the better. He is proud to say that Climate Experts has one of the most extensive hiring processes to ensure team members have high morals, amazing customer service skills, integrity, and empathy. Derek’s driving focus is creating a customer experience like no other and to become the highest-rated HVAC Company in Melbourne FL.
Derek has been married to his wife Katie for 8 years and has 2 daughters. He grew up in Melbourne Beach FL and has been in Brevard County for over 30 years. Derek enjoys surfing, boating, water sports, exercise, reading, and spending quality time with his family. Derek believes above all else in serving his family and community to the best of his ability.
